Comments: The cells secrete prolactin and express functional dopamine receptors [U.S. Patent 5,510,260].
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated F-12K Medium, Catalog No. 30-2004. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium:
  • fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 2.5%
  • horse serum to a final concentration of 15%
    Atmosphere: air, 95%; carbon dioxide (CO2), 5%
    Temperature: 37.0°C
    DGrowth Conditions: The line grows as clumps of cells in suspension.
Subculturing: Protocol: Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of medium. Establish new cultures at 2 X 10(5) viable cells/ml and maintain between 1 X 10(5) and 1 X 10(6) cells/ml.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 days
Preservation: Freeze medium: culture medium, 95%; DMSO, 5%
